Riverside, CA – July 18, 2025 – The Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) has announced the selection of Brenda Dennstedt, Director at Western Municipal Water District, as Chair of its 2026 Executive Committee. The vote took place during the WRCOG General Assembly and Leadership Address on June 12, 2025, where more than 100 representatives from member agencies gathered to celebrate regional collaboration.

Councilmember Jacque Casillas of the City of Corona was selected as Vice Chair, and Mayor Mike Lara of the City of Beaumont was named Second Vice Chair.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of WRCOG and to represent a region that leads with collaboration and innovation,” said Dennstedt.  “As we face new challenges and opportunities, I look forward to working alongside our members to strengthen our communities through strategic investments in infrastructure, energy, and sustainability.”

Dennstedt has served on the WRCOG Executive Committee for 12 years, previously holding positions as Chair, Vice Chair and Second Vice Chair, and contributing to several key committees including the Administration & Finance Committee and the General Assembly Ad Hoc Committee. She is the first Executive Committee member from a Water District to hold the Chair position.  She has also served on the Board of Directors for Western Municipal Water District since 2007, where she has championed regional water education and interagency cooperation.

As Chair, Dennstedt will help guide WRCOG’s initiatives in transportation, sustainability, and economic development. These include the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) Program, which has invested millions of dollars into over 150 infrastructure projects, and the Inland Regional Energy Network (I-REN), which is expanding clean energy access, workforce training, and climate resilience throughout the Inland Empire.
